Office 2016 upgrade screwed up one click functionality yet again ... RRS feed

    quick ?

I have a bunch of documents that were created with .dot extension.

They load a template that has macros in it that adds a few features to add one click functionality.
e.g. user focuses on project rather than filling out forms

I have migrated them each Office upgrade: 2007, 2013
    no issue ...

    2016
    HA ...

    TEMPLATE
    new location > 2016
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

    old location > 2013
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

    QAT/UI
    2007
    Word.qat
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office

    Word.OfficeUI
    location > 2016, 2013
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office

There were custom buttons which showed up in QAT which when clicked would run the macros in the template.

    ISSUE
no buttons hence no one click ...

The macros work with Word 2016.

What's the new trick to getting macros to work with 2016?
I tested a bunch of scenarios using .xlsx to gather data to see pattern.

Thanx in advance for any tips.
