SSRS 2017 Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get an error when trying to edit a Data Source - "Something went wrong. Please try again later"

Here is the error in RSPortal Log

RSPortal!reportserverwebapp!RSPortal.exe!f!11/03/2017-17:09:46:: e ERROR: OData exception occurred: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Bryan Holland,

According to the error information, it seems the connection issue. When you add the data source, the report sever cannot visit the datasource remote host because it was "forcibly closed by the remote host".

So could you please check the firewall on the remote host? There might be a rule blocking the remote visit. And is there a proxy server for the remote host? And does the account have sufficient permission to connect and read the datasource?

You could follow Data Connections, Data Sources, and Connection Strings to set the SSRS datasource. If it is correctly set, you need to check the connection of remote host.

    Best Regards,
