%complete value is set to 100% even if duration, work and actual work=0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone have idea on the following

In MSPS, the %complete is set to 100% even if the duration, work and actual work=0.

we are not setting the value for %complete. is it the behaviour of MSPS.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello Sunitha,
Can you calculate the project & see if the result changes? (I think by pressing F9 ). If Actual duration & duration both are zero, result cannot be zero.
When a task is first created, the percent complete is zero percent. As soon as you enter actual duration, remaining duration, or actual work (which affects actual duration), Project calculates percent complete as follows:
    Percent Complete = (Actual Duration / Duration) * 100
If the % Complete field is set to a value greater than zero, the Actual Start field is set to the scheduled start date if you have not yet entered an actual start date. If the % Complete field is set to 100, the Actual Finish field is set to the scheduled finish date.  If you type a value in the % Complete field, Project automatically calculates actual duration and remaining duration. Likewise, entering a value in the Actual Duration or Remaining Duration field automatically recalculates the other fields.
what type of task are you using?

  • Hi Amit,

    Thanks for the reply.

In our scenario, we are not setting Actual Work,Remainig work,Actual duration ,work . all these values are zero.

But then also its setting the %complete value to 100%. Task type= fixed work.

    Thanks in advance
