Just started Expression Design with Design 2 beta RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just downloaded design 2 beta and wanted to test it out before I considered purchasing  or waiting next semester to get a copy of it. I noticed that I was able to use a pen tool, but couldn't figure out all the uses. As an Adobe user it gets pretty difficult for me to learn a software for design without formal training. I would like to know if this program has vector capabilities as well as if there are tutorials online for Expression Design. Thanks ahead of time and God Bless,

    Adrian

here are some but take in account that the maybe are done in design 1 so the way to work can be a bit different in the new beta

  • So design is a vector based program. Something I really need. The tools are still very similar so I think I will be ok. Thanks for the links.:)

  • I guess I was wrong. Within the program, there is vector capabilities, but when exporting it rastorizes the work. That stinks, but good program non the less.

  • Hey Adrian,

it depends what format you are exporting to. Clearly if you export to png, jpg etc. then it will be bitmap but if you export to XAML or PDF it will retain its vector properties. ED is primarily a vector application.

Also note that if you add FX to the object they will be raster as well.

  • Thanks for the info. I figured that out after I asked the question. Kinda feel dumb now. Also, I have Expression Design 1 now along with the studio, so all my questions would be for that now. Thanks for the help.
