Does total DB size include trabsaction log space RRS feed

  • Hello Jamie

The transaction log space used does not count towards your quota. If you configure a 1GB DB, it is 1GB of data space. The transaction log, from a billing perspective/quota, is disregarded.

But this does not mean you have an unlimited Transaction Log. This is carefully managed by SQL Azure and excessive Transaction Log usage by a specifiy query will result in your query being aborted.

  • Thanks Mike. Do you provide any guidance on what constitutes "excessive Transaction Log usage by a specifiy query"?
