Edit ComboBox

    Question

  • In my Win8.1/C#/XAML/Windows Store App, I'd like to make my ComboBox editable. Just adding IsEditable="True" in the XAML code produces the following error: "Cannot assign 'True' into the read only property 'IsEditable'. I did search here, but the only link I found for a Windows Store App contained only a dead link (thought the person posting the question said the solution worked).

Is it will possible to edit the text in a ComboBox in Win8.1/Windows Store App? If so, a pointer on how to do this would be nice.

    Thanks...

  • The ComboBox doesn't support editing out of the box (as you note, IsEditable is documented as always returning false).

You'd need to add your own code to support free-form text along with the ComboBox's included items.
