AzCopy to Move file to Azure Storage Blob

    Question

  • Hello Experts ,

I am using Azcopy to copy file  from on premise to Azure blob.
I have been able to successfully copy  that and it works fine .

My Challenge is - I need to copy zip \compress file now .
When I do that , I do not get an error   but file does not copy

Is is possible to copy zip or compress file via AZcopy ?

    Thanks in advance !!

  • If you want to import all files from a local folder:

    AzCopy /Source:C:\myfolder /Dest:https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer /DestKey:key /S

If you want to import just one file (e.g. a zip)

    AzCopy /Source:C:\myfolder /Dest:https://myaccount.blob.core.windows.net/mycontainer /DestKey:key /Pattern:"abc.zip"

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting here.

I tried copying the .zip files using azcopy and I was successfully able to copy it to Azure blob storage.

What is the size of the file that you are trying to copy to azure blobs?

  • Hi,

If you have access to Pluralsight that I suggest to look at the course Real World Big Data in Microsoft Azure. If not there's trail option available. It contains code/solution to help you in your requirement(s).
