  • Question

  • Anyone know off hand why I get the object at the bold code line below?

    Stack is pasted below.

    //Main Code
            string result = ccdDefinition.TransformItem("tohv", ccdItem);
            // lblStatus.Text = result.ToString();
            StringReader stringReader = new StringReader(result);

            infoReader.NameTable.Add("wc");
            infoReader.MoveToContent();
            Collection<HealthRecordItem> results = new Collection<HealthRecordItem>();
            string CurrentString = result;
            if (infoReader != null)

  • Thanks Aneesh.

    Pasted entire stack trace below.

    I checked the value of CurrentString. I had thought that it may be null because of the error.

    But I tested the output and it is populated with a string.

    CurrentString = result

    The "result" variable equals a CCD item transformation.

    //Main Code
            string result = ccdDefinition.TransformItem("tohv", ccdItem);
            StringReader stringReader = new StringReader(result);
            XmlReader infoReader = XmlReader.Create(stringReader, XmlReaderSettings);
            infoReader.NameTable.Add("wc");
            infoReader.MoveToContent();
            Collection<HealthRecordItem> results = new Collection<HealthRecordItem>();
            string CurrentString = result;
            if (infoReader != null)
            {
                infoReader.ReadToDescendant("thing");
                while (CurrentString != string.Empty)
                {
                    HealthRecordItem resultThing = ItemTypeManager.DeserializeItem(CurrentString);
                    infoReader.Read();
                    CurrentString = infoReader.ReadOuterXml();
                    if (resultThing != null)
                    {
                        results.Add(resultThing);
                    }
                }
            }

  • Hello Gary,

    Please paste the complete content of CurrentString. The stack trace looks like one of the items in the string is missing the type-id tag.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Aneesh D.

  • This is the complete content of CurrentString below.

    It is a "tohv" transformation of a CCD item.

    Thanks again. Appreciate the help.

  • Wouldn't I have to create a new HealthRecordItem before calling DeserializeItem?

    Mahesh gave me this code, so I'm only figuring it now.

    Do I have to do ItemTypeManager.GetTypeId on the string get the TypeId and initiate a new HealthRecordItem with that TypeId?

    Or, does
    DeserializeItem handle that for me?

    Thanks,
    Gary

  • ItemTypeManager.DeserializeItem will handle the creation of the correct instance of type HealthRecordItem based on the xml you pass to it.

    For some reason the xml you posted is mangled.  Can you use the appropriate code formatter functionlity and post it again?

  • From what Rajesh suggested if you are not able to post it in the proper format, you can send the complete xml to v-and@microsoft.com.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • This is output string from the CCD transform.

    I've displayed the string in my view page in a label.

    What is the proper format for the string?

    How would I get the complete XML?

    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Hello Gary,

    Please send the whole content of the string to v-and@microsoft.com. With this I will investigate this issue further and get back to you.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Aneesh D.

  • Thanks Aneesh.

    So the string from the tohv transform is supposed to be individual Thing Type XML messages?

    I'm thinking now that maybe the XML is being stripped away.

    It could be the XmlReader settings that I was told to use.

    I'll have to verify this later today.

    These are the settings:

                  XmlReaderSettings settings = new XmlReaderSettings();
                  settings.CheckCharacters = true;
                  settings.CloseInput = true;
                  settings.ConformanceLevel = ConformanceLevel.Fragment;
                  settings.IgnoreComments = true;
                  settings.IgnoreProcessingInstructions = true;
                  settings.IgnoreWhitespace = true;
                  settings.ProhibitDtd = true;
                  settings.XmlResolver = null;
                  return settings;

    Thanks,

  • So I've removed the XMLReaderSettings and I still get the same string format (see below).

    Is this correct for a "tohv" transform of a CCD item?

    There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my CCDs, since I'm able to use the reconcile process on them manually in HV.
