Metro apps are not working.

    Question

  • I installed the developer preview on my HP laptop. I updated windows and installed the NVidia driver that I found in windows update. After updating the resolution gets to 1366 x 768. I tried the metro apps but none of them work. I only see the splash screen then I get a black or green screen. If it is a green screen when I click on the screen I get back to the Start page. If it is a black screen I get an error message "ms-windows-store:PDP?PFN= microsoft.socialite_8wekyb3d8bbwe&errorCode=80073d01 Call was canceled by the message filter."

The only metro apps working are Internet Explorer and Control Panel.

  • Hey everyone,

If you have already checked to see that your desktop resolution is larger than 1024 by 768 (as I see some have already noted), try refreshing Windows Developer Preview to see if the same problem occurs. Here is what will happen when you refresh your PC:

    • Your files and personalization settings won't change.
    • Your PC settings will be restored to their defaults.
    • Apps from Windows Store will be kept. All other apps will be removed.

    To perform a refresh:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Click Control Panel
    • Click General in the left column
    • Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Get started

Then follow the directions that will be provided on the screen. If you are prompted to insert your installation media you will need to insert the DVD or USB drive that you used to install Windows Developer Preview.

    Hope that helps.
