  • Question

  • Hi All,

SQL 2014 installation is failing on node1 with below error on Windows Server 2012. Tried to install same media on node 2, its sucess. Please suggest on below error. I am herewith attaching SQL installation summary file (https://easyupload.io/uszkzj)

PS: Due to some reasons I have rebooted node1. After reboot the server is not up. So, our Windows admin performed hard reset on node1 to bring node1 up/running. After hard reset, I am getting below error on node1.

  • Hi PraveenKumar_1999,

According to this error message and the error in the summary file(0x80004005  The system cannot find the path specified),here are some suggestions:

    1. Remove the previous failed SQL installation, you can refer to this article.

2.Try download the SQL Server 2014 setup media again and run it as administrator. When reinstalling the SQL Server, please change the SQL Server Database Engine account and SQL Server Agent account to local System(NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM) to ensure these accounts have enough permission, and disable the anti-virus software during  SQL server 2014 installation.

    Best Regards,
    Cris

  • Hi PraveenKumar_1999,

Well, the remnants of failed installations are sometimes not easy to clean up.

Since you reload the OS, the SQL Server should be installed successfully.

    Cris
