importing call history into a smart device? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was wondering if there was any good way to import call log data into a windows mobile phone.

for instance, to be able to move one's call history from one phone to another (on a Treo 700p I have, I have 3+ years of call history, I can export it to CSV on palm (and other phones enable exporting), but there does not seem to be any good way to import it.

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb416477.aspx

only seems to allow you to extract individual records for export, but provides no method for importing data?

any ideas?  Would one have to deal with the evt datbase manually?  If so, is there a description of the database anywhere so I can be sure I do it right?

    thanks.

  • Hi,

As far as I am aware there are no publically exposed APIs for ISVS to add enteries to the call log database (clog.db).

You may be able to achieve what you want by directly editing the database file. It is a standard CE database file. However this would be fragile if the format of the records etc changed in a future version of Windows Mobile for instance.

The only documentation I am aware of with respect to the database's internal structure is the content on the XDA developers wiki at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=CeDatabases%2Fclog.db

If you search these forums for "clog.db" or "call log "you may find some other suitable references / tips as the topic of adding or deleteing records in this database comes up often.

    Hope this helps,
