If we need to test WinXP and Vista after Win8 releasd? RRS feed

  • Question

  • For WHQL testing, if we need to test on WinXP and Vista?

I found that"Must be a uniform driver and submitted together with another operating system." from hardware-certification-policies-processes.docx.

Can anyone find more offical policy?

  • In order to receive a free XP signature requires that the driver is a uniform
driver and submitted with a higher level OS (same binaries as a high level OS
that’s being submitted) in that situation no testing is required for XP and a
free signature box will appear.  If partners actually run XP testing and
submit fees are charged for the XP submission.  Partners test for XP for
the purpose of placing the XP driver on Windows Update. If you don’t need to
place the driver on Windows Update and it’s a uniform driver that’s being
submitted with a higher level OS there are no fees.
