Expression Web 4: Insanely slow with TFS 2010 & Large website RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all - I've been searching everywhere for an answer to this question:

I have a large website (many thousands of files) that I am managing with Visual Studio with no problem - however I would like to use the visual environment of expression web 4 for design . layout and editorial stuff.

    Here's my problem:

When I open the website it takes roughly 5 minutes of connecting and updating from TFS2010

Also when I check in a file it again takes another 4-5 minutes.

    It' s excruciating!

Visual studio can see and check in and out of the same TFS server instantly.

Any ideas? I'm on a quad core XEON, 6GB RAM, Nvidia Quadrofx5800 graphics card w/4GB video ram, ALL drivers software patches etc. are up to date.

Any way to make EW4 work with source control faster? 5 minutes to get a file opened and another 5 to save it makes the app virtually useless.

Does the app just choke on a large website?

Why would it have so much trouble when visual studio works flawlessly?

ALSO Important to note: The app itself seems to work fine - even with relatively small websites on TFS - it seems to want to refresh every single file after any file save/update operation with TFS
