  • Question

  • Hi MS,

We have SQL 2014 BI-Edition. And we are evaluating SQL 2016(pre-release).
My Question is After release of 2016 how can update the licences for it?

You can upgrade from Evaluation Edition by performing an Edition Upgrade after 2016 is released.

You must have licenses for the environment, which may be new licenses, or you can use your SQL 2014 licenses if covered by Software Assurance, which provides New Version Rights (ie SQL 2014 licenses covered by Software Assurance will automatically become SQL 2016 licenses on release).
