Mail stays in Custom Incoming Email Drop Folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

    iv configured sharepoint to pick the mails from a custom drop folder.

    sharepoint picks the mail without problem and creates the listitem

    but the mail stays in the drop folder;

    with the default dropfolder the email was deleted after it was picked by sharepoint

    why the email does not get deleted in the custom drop folder?

  • Ok then check access of the account which is runing timer service on the drop folder - it should have R/W access.

    also try stopping/starting timer job as well .

  • how many emails you see in drop folder ? Is it possible that there is 1 faulty email which is stuck and is not letting other emails to clear out. Can you try moving all the emails which are in drop folder to some other temp folder and check if you are able to move all the emails, one of them should give error while moving it .

    stop the timer job , move the email (which you were not able to move  earlier) to a different folder with no emails.

    Now, start the timer and then move all emails back to drop folder except that faulty email and see if queue clears out

  • Perhaps in addition to Amrita's suggestions, verify that the permissions on the default and the custom drop folder are identical.

  • the emails are not stuck

    all emails get picked by sharepoint and a list item is created for each email

    but the emails do not get deleted in the custom drop folder

    but they can be deleted or moved without problems
