Debuging project/solution file

    Question

  • Due to some wrong includes in project file I get and error opening project.

In VS 2013 there was clear message what was wrong and in which line.

In VS 2015 I get only such error message in Output: error :  One or more errors occurred.

Is there any way to check in VS 2015 what is wrong? Our project was switched to VS 2015 and it is not open-able in VS 2013 anymore, so we lost ability to check where mistake is.

  • Hi Andrzej Żmijewski,

In VS2015, if possible, you could debug your app with breakpoint, maybe you could get the exception message with the Exceptions windows:

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/x85tt0dd.aspx

But if it has the compiled error, please clean and rebuild the whole solution, check it again.

Or you could create a blank solution, and then add all project files to the new solution, compile it again.

As you said that you could get the detailed output error in which line, if possible, like the above steps, just create a new blank solution in VS2013, and then add all project files to the VS2013 solution, debug it again.

Please also check the detailed output messages after you select the detailed option under Tools->Options like the following screen shot.

    Best Regards,

    Jack
