Increase list view threshold in SharePoint Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have migrated SP 2013 on-pre site to SP online, and in one list we have more then 5K items which is exceeding the threshold limit and due to which list view are giving error "This view cannot be displayed because it exceeds the list view threshold (5000 items) enforced by the administrator". Since we can not increase threshold limit in SP online so please suggest best possible approach to achieve my goal.

    Thanks,

  • You can do this using "Index" column.

Go to list Setting -> 'Index columns' and Index couple of columns which you want.
Now create a View  - which is getting sorted by 'Index Column'.,
It should not give you the threshold error.

And that's true, you can not modify SP Online list view threshold.

  • Hi,

There are some options from MSDN support article to work with List View Threshold limit in SharePoint Online:

    1. Add index column and filter with list view to make sure the list view item count won't exceed the threshold limitation.

    2. Using folder organize the data.

    3. Take data offline, for example, export list data to Excel or Access, so that we can query the data without threshold limitation.

    Thanks
