Question

I am having problems uninstalling, I believe that I will need to manually uninstall this Beta.
Not sure what happened, one moment it is fine and the next, it hung.
Can someone please point me inthe right direction?

Fixed, it worked, I must be within the 90%, (brushing sweat from brow).
Thank you, I opened a trouble ticket and now will close to pursue my new opportunities with this program.

couple of ideas for you....
If the uninstall option is still there, logon as administrator and try uninstall.
Also, try reinstalling, then uninstalling, both as administrator.

Here is the story. I am very technically adept, mother to Enterprise servers.
I installed EWB2. Worked fine. 2 days ago, I wanted to try the other packages (those ancillary applications within EB).
Downloaded the Beta Blend Package, selected ONLY Design, Encoder, Media, and started the install. The install hung halfway through.
OK, I was unable to get ANY response from the computer, stopped responding. Tried task mananger, task mananger did close the program after an extended delay.
Now, unable to remove the program (s). Trying to use article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/ and started through the sequence of procedure. Moved to step 1-f, and I cannot uninstall 210122.msi Microsoft Expression Web 2.
It appears to try to uninstall but never removes itself fromthe menu, Refresh still indicates that the program is still there.
Ok, tried a rollback prior to the attempted faux pau of dilemma. Rollback did NOT help, Expression Web comes up and hangs. It does come up visually, but there is the activity wheel which continues to spin. IT will actually spin for an hour without timing out to "no response".
I would appreciate any input or pointers for a resolution.
I would like to get the program removed in completion, reinstall the suite for further testing.
I do plan to purchase Beta II as soon as it is no l onger Beta ;)

As you already know, you got a screwed up install that hung part way through. Sometimes a screwed up install, messes up the uninstall.
If it were me I would hammer at getting the install to work. I run the suite along with hordes of other software here on a pretty beefy machine.
I did shutdown my virus program when doing the install since I knew it was a big one.
You can even try XP compatibility mode out of desparation.
Make sure you are saving the install file and not running from microsoft's site. You may even want to keep it all of the network for grins.
Anything to avoid the "please reformat and reinstall you OS" option

A problem occurred while uninstalling Expression components for use on your computer.
Removal of the "Microsoft Expression Web 2" product has reported the following error: Removal of the "Microsoft Expression Web 2" product has reported the following error: Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.
Please resolve the issue and then start Expression setup again. If you continue to have problems with this issue, please contact the Expression and provide a copy of your installation log for investigation.
To post the log, is it possible to paste the attach the txt file, content is too long to post?
Or perhaps I can email it to someone?

Russ,
You do know that you are in the community forum which is mainly a user group forum. not really microsoft technical support. The only regular microsoftie in here is Anna as she is the moderator of the group.
I wouldn't know what to do with the log if you posted it. I am merely throwing out ideas for you to try.
You could try to ask her for a more direct technical support contact.
Sorry I could not be of more assistance.

Woot I'm a Microsoftie :)
We do patrol the forums as well, but we are restrained on time and limited on what we can answer at times.
The simple fix in most and many cases on corrupt installs is:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
9 times out of 10 this works like a charm.

Glad to hear that it worked.
I would say it works all the time, but as soon as that is said, then up comes the time it doesn't work.
That tool is a good all around tool as it works for any product installed that has registry install problems.

Thanks mike, glad to know you are out there.
now show up more often :)
Russ, make sure to credit the answer to the actual answer. This forum actually lets you credit yourself with an answer and it should go to mike's answer.
Then he will show up in top answerers and everyone can bug him with questions! lol
