How to start a drag+drop action? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that it is possible to drag items from ListView or GridView and then drop them somewhere. I would like to be able to also drag items from other sources, so they take part in the same drag+drop system. Is that possible with WinRT? In WinForms and WPF this is not a problem, but I could not find a way to start a drag+drop action in WinRT.

  • You can only drag/drop objects within the same app.  For inter-app processing, you'll want to use the share contract.  Do you have a specific scenario in mind?

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
