[UWP]Can Windows 10 Mobile emulator run on Windows 8.1 Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, i have a stupid question with a pretty annoying answer to find: Can you, after installing the win 10 sdk / tools and emulator, run it on windows 8.1 Pro ?

Seems like installing is no problem for the win10 sdk and emulator, i just cant get the emulator to show anywhere.

The Windows 10 Mobile emulators can run on Windows 8.1 Pro if the system meets the requirements. See System requirements in the Test with the Microsoft Emulator for Windows 10 Mobile documentation.

Visual Studio 2015 can build Universal Windows apps on Windows 8.1 Pro, but cannot run them and the designer won't be fully enabled. You'll need a remote system or emulator to test your apps. See the Visual Studio Community 2015 with Update 1 system requirements at https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2015-system-requirements-vs.aspx#1 .

  • Hi and thanks for the reply. It all sounds in the end as too much of a hassle, ive already wasted too many hours on trying to make it work, and in the end, even if the emulator will work, it will be separate from VB comm2015 which im sure is very pleasant. Ill stick to 8.1 apps for now.

BTW microsoft sure knows how to make a joke:

Visual Studio Community 2015 with Update 1

    Hardware requirements:

    ...

4 GB of available hard disk space

    HA !

    Wish you a pleasant evening
