Asynchronous socket example code published, including sending objects over the network connection RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I'm pleased to announce the release of socket example code at:

This uses the Nito.Async/Nito.Async.Sockets library which was released this morning at:

The primary benefit of Nito.Async.Sockets is the synchronization of socket callbacks, which is automatic in Windows Forms, WPF, or ASP.NET applications.

There is also a second layer in Nito.Async.Sockets (the Simple*Socket classes) that defines a packet protocol including automatic keepalive packets.

The sample code demonstrates the usage of both of these layers, and also includes code for serializing of objects over the network as well as retrieving the local IP addresses.

  • hi,

im building an async server in wpf. from sample http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5w7b7x5f.aspx, i cant get it work properly in wpf due to thread locking. since what im looking is pretty basic, i figure there are working library/sample that are easy to use for my purpose which is, create wpf async socket server.

can i send and receive udp packets in nito?

is nito is what im looking for?

  • Nito.Async.Sockets only provides TCP sockets, not UDP. The library includes a simple demo project implementing both client and server.
