EWF MANAGER INCREASING MEMORY RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

EWF MEMORY IS INCREASING EVEN THOUGH ,WE ARE NOT RUNNING ANY APPLICATIONS. I COULD SEE NO FILES ARE ADDED/MODIFIED IN Window partition C(which is write protected). not sure why ewf memory is increasing? please suggest how to stop increasing the ewf memory other committing to other drive.

another question is if same file is deleted and copied in write protected volume, will ewf memory increases?

    Regards,

    Naga

  • Are you running any .NET applications? If so the .NET assemblies are getting optimized (ngen.exe) and filling up the file system.

    1. option 1: run ngen.exe update /force /queue to force the optimization to complete and then enable EWF.

    2. option 2: switch to FBWF and open holes to areas that are being filled up like c:\Windows\assembly. If memory serve FBWFmgr.exe will list what is in the overlay.
