False positive virus detection in Microsoft Defender. What happens next? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

When I made a virtualised application from some software, Windows Defender wrongly detected it as a virus. I submitted a 'false positive' detection report (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission) and got confirmation that the file is not infected.

My question is: What happens next? Does Microsoft update the virus definitions? If so, approx how long do they take to do that?

I have about 10-15 other false detection files I'd like to submit, so that our customers don't encounter the same issue.

I tried asking this on the Microsoft support chat but the agent didn't know and suggested I ask the question here.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Note: I originally asked the question in the "General Windows Desktop Development Issues" forum but was asked to move it here.
