Multiple CAB files delivered OTA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Another question. Is there anyway to deliver multiple CAB files at once OTA.

I guess what I mean is to install an app which is split over several CAB files OTA. Is there any way to chain CAB files so you'd download the first one and then the second one then the third... then install the app?

  • There's a nested CAB sample in WM 6.0 SDK if you really need it (and very brave).

Setup and Deployment Multiple CAB Install C++
    Win32

x x Setup DLL, WCELoad Demonstrates how to create a program to unpack all
the cabs in a container cab ('uber-cab').

    Folder : \Common\CPP\Win32\multicabinstall

  • Ok. So just to be clear there isn't anyway to download one CAB file, which reference a second CAB file which would automatically be downloaded after the first?

  • There's no support for that in the OS if that's what you're asking. But of course nothing stops you from implementing it on your own. Sockets are available to you, so it's certainly doable, just a lot of work.
