MSP beginner

Question

Hi,

I am very new to MSP. I did a dummy project. My problem is i set the schedule for 4 phases. But, after every day i dont know where to fill the completion status of that day. Without that how we can go ahead with a project? Anybody can help me to do this? 

Eg: Jan 1 to 6 I defined a task of store preparation. everyday evening how i can add this? means- this day schedule work done successfully or pending works are there.

may be this is a silly question, but as a beginner please help me.

Welcome to the forum. 

If your tasks are being worked on exactly as planned, you may use the "Update Project" command (Project tab, Status group) to quickly update multiple tasks.  However, if tasks are delayed (not started as planned) or are progressing ahead of schedule (started early, finished early) the Update Project command will not makes those changes.

If you are tracking at a daily level anyway, you may find that working with the Task Usage or Resource Usage view and updating Actual Work per day allows much better (and accurate control).  Show the Task or Resource Usage view and add Actual Work to the right side.  (Right click to show the shortcut menu and select "Actual Work" from the list of fields).

Please don't worry about asking "silly" questions.  No question is silly :-)

Dear Julie,

My question is this:

My task started today morning. today we had "store preparation" on tasks. Now it is evening. it has done successfully. Now how can i enter in the MSP that this task has been done successfully. It clear that, after getting my information only, MSP can sense this task going normally..

 

SO where I can enter that -todays task is success.

Julie already answered this question, here's a quote from her reply:

I could add that in that window, you have to click "Update ork as complete through"

An alternative is on the task ribbon, Mark on Track, again Mark on Track (for the selected task)
