FBWF and Security Essentials. defs and scans lost after restart RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I have windows 7 Embedded installed on a thin client with Microsoft Security Essentials and the File Based Write Filter enabled. After restarts, the virus definitions are not kept up to date. The last set of virus defs shown after a restart were just before I enabled the write filter. For example, if the write filter was enabled on May 1 and the PC was restarted on May 9th, the virus defs would be from May 1st and not the 9th. Granted, I can set the PC up to update the virus defintions at startup but I'd rather not run the risk of having a system with out of date virus definitions; even if it's temporary. I've attempted to exclude the c:\ProgramData\Microsoft Antimalware folder with no luck. I've attempted to exclude subdirectories within this folder and the result is still the same.

Secondly, the scan history is lost as well with a restart. The last scan is once again reported on the day the write filter was enabled.

Has anyone implemented a similar setup and found a solution?
