Traverse from a geography point to find another geography point RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there-

Would someone be able to advise me the best way to find a Geography point at x distance (at y angle, not along a great circle) away from a known Geography point.
Is the best way to do this to project (SQL spatial tools) to Geometry, use some trigonometry to traverse to the new Geometry point, then Unproject back to Geography?
Or is this completely over-complicating things? Is there an easier way that I'm missing out?

Ultimately I'd like to create a grid of points where I'm doing some kind of analysis at each grid point.
