Access doesn't recognize now(), parameters are not transferred between different forms and reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since a short while I'm experiencing problems with Access. The database I'm using doesn't recognize any longer the function now(), when generating a report he doesn't seem to get his information from the query behind it, when calling a macro in VBA from the report he even doesn't recognize it.

    Can anybody help me?

  • Check if you have any broken references: VBA window > Tools > References.

    Also decompile your application.

  • Welcome to the MSDN forums!

Whenever basic functions (Date, Now, Right, Left, ...) fail 99% of the time it is a VBA Reference issue cause by previously running the database on a newer version of Access.

Always remember, all development must be done on the oldest version of Access that will be used to run the database and that each user must be given their own personal copy of the Front-end so they do make changes to the master database file (that is just for the developer and no one else).

As Tom said, go into the VBE (ALT+F11) and then check your references (Tools -> References ...) and see if any are marked as MISSING and correct them.
