File processing with Device Emulator?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • For our application i.e WinCE Device application we have selected Device Emulator for ARM processor. In our application we opened a file  in write mode and written something. Eventhough the file is created successfully we couldn't locate the file in our hard disk. Where is it stored?

  • No file is written to the PC's hard disk.  The Windows CE filesystem is RAM and Flash based, so the file writes are stored within RAM in the DeviceEmulator.exe process.

If you wish to mount part of your PC's filesystem into the DeviceEmulator, use the emulator's File/Configure menu to enable "Folder Sharing", and specify the root of the PC hard disk directory tree to share in.  It will appear to Windows CE as "\Storage Card".  All reads and writes to that folder are turned into direct file reads and writes to Windows.
