Creating New ActiveX Objects RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks,

    I'm wondering how i can get started with writing an ActiveX control in something like C# that I could then use in my JScript for the windows scripting host?

    I want to do this so that I can extend JScript's functionality. So, for instance, i might want to write an activex object that provides FTP access:

    • First, let's just assume i can code the object in whatever language is appropriate. VB6, C#, etc. Coding the object itself is not the focus of this message, but rather how to allow WSH/JScript to use it once it's built.
    • Next, what steps are required to allow JScript and the WSH to "see" the object? Registration of a dll or something?
    • Once configured, I should be able to create the object using new ActiveXObject("myFtpObject");
    Does anyone know of some links on the net that can get me started with this?
