  • Question

  •

    hi

I try to install .net 3.5 on server 2012R2

the server disconnected from internet so Im using the alternet source path

    in my case F:\sources\sxs

I know the iso file is good cuse I installed .net 3.5 on all other servers

    the error is:

Installation of one or more roles, role services, or features failed.
The source files could not be found. Try installing the roles, role services, or features again in a new Add Roles and Features Wizard session, and on the Confirmation page of the wizard, click "Specify an alternate source path" to specify a valid location of the source files that are required for the installation. The location must me accessible by the computer account of the destination server.

    I also tried this:

The Group Policy setting  "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair” located under "Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System

but no success, its look like no mether what im doing the server stuck on some path and dosent accepets the alternet path

    please your advice

  • Hello david,

It seems there is a MSDN article addressed your issue:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3002547

    Please see the workaround:

To resolve the issue, install update 3005628
          (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3005628 )
. To work around this issue, use one of the following workarounds, as appropriate for your situation:
    • Turn on the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 feature before you install security update 2966827
            (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2966827)
      or 2966828
            (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2966828)
. For more information about how to turn Windows features on or off, go to the following Microsoft webpage:
Turn Windows features on or off
            (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/turn-windows-features-on-off#1TC=windows-7)
You can also use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) or any supported managed update system to add the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 feature. For more information about how to deploy the .NET Framework 3.5 by using DISM, go to the following Microsoft webpage:
Deploy .NET Framework 3.5 by using Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)
    • If security update 2966827
            (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2966827)
      or 2966828
            (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2966828)
has already been installed on the system, temporarily uninstall the update, enable .NET Framework 3.5, and then reinstall the security update.
    • If you see this behavior from Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Microsoft Intune, or System Center Configuration Manager environments, refer to the following documentation:

  • Hi david_shuhami,

You can try to solve the “Source” option first. It has the error “0x800f081f”, this error code can occur when an alternative installation source is specified and one of the following conditions is true:

The location that is specified by the path does not contain the files that are required to install the feature.

The user who tries to install the feature does not have at least READ access to the location and to the files.

The set of installation files is corrupted, incomplete, or invalid for the version of Windows that you are running.

    Refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2734782

And you can follow the steps in this blog to solve this issue: http://blogs.technet.com/b/joscon/archive/2012/11/30/how-to-troubleshoot-error-0x800f081f-when-installing-roles-and-features.aspx

To solve the “updates 2966827 or 2966828  are not installed.” Refer to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3002547

    Best Regards,
