Answers

  • Put the page in edit mode, go to Web Part Properties for the CEWP (click on 'Modify Shared Web Parts' from the menu in the upper right part of web part).

From here the jQuery can be loaded two ways:

    1) In the Source Editor - click the "Source Editor" button, a pop window will appear with the source in the pop up, change it as you need to and press OK

    2) if the Source is not in the Source Editor, then the Content is linked from a different file.. look in the "Content Link" text box, this should contain a path to the script if there is no script in the Source Editor.

For maintainability, reuse, deployment, etc... The use of a Content Link is preferred over putting script directly into the CEWP.
