Fslogix and Rds cals not free only with SA licence RRS feed

  • Question

  • No doubt like many plastered over Microsoft.com and various thin client Citrix blogs is the statement fslogix is free if you have an RDS CAL. Like many Citrix PVS users we have 500 plus RDS cals. A move to outlook 365 E1 means we need fslogix to avoid very poor performance.  Sadly someone has said our perpetual 2012 rds licences are no good, unless you have active software assurance ?

Is this true as I’m sure many corporations will have assumed otherwise, why would  you buy SA for server 2012 it’s outdated, just to get fslogix. We review its future in a year or more.

Prior to this I could have got, per user 10 dollar fslogix licences, now it seem the only way is RDS SA, WVD which isn’t possible for us, or E3 all of which look very expensive. When did this change or is this huge MS error either way ? Any advice welcome
