  • Question

  • hi,

i've developed in c# a local application that has a Ms Access DB.

till now, my mdb file was on my local hard drive, and everything is working just fine.

now i want to put the db (mdb file), on a web host, but i can't find a good way to connect to the remote db.

    my connection strig is that:

    OleDbConnection myCon = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Ms Remote;" +

    " Remote Server=<web site ip>;" +

    " Remote Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" +

    " DRIVER=Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb);" +

    " Data Source=/data/shutafim.mdb;")

    what am i doing wrong?

    please help me... Smile

    Sh.

  • The MS Remote Provider is not supported by ADO.NET. Unless you can reference the file through a UNC path, instead of an IP address, the only option would be to create a web service that handles the access to your database.

  • If database hosted outside of domain network then you would need to implement web services that will expose data from your database and your application will manipulate data through these web services. Basically you need to build an additional layer to work with Access database remotely.
