Power BI Dashboard on Azure Portal RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to collect some data via Power BI, create a chart, and then display that chart on my Azure Portal Dashboard.

Is this possible? I see someone else asked this question but it looks like it was never answered properly: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/b2393cd3-c6e3-412f-b2fe-8c527981afed/show-powerbi-dashboardreportdiagram-in-azure-portal?forum=windowsazuremanagement#b2393cd3-c6e3-412f-b2fe-8c527981afed

Can a Power BI Embeded chart be displayed on the Azure Portal? It seems the iFrames it generates do not work in a Markdown tile (I assume it is a restricted HTML entity).

    Cheers for any help.

  • Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us on Azure forums!

With Azure Stream Analytics & Power BI you can collect data by creating chart which lets you display the same on the Azure dashboard.

For more details see this link - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/stream-analytics/stream-analytics-power-bi-dashboard

  • Cheers for the response.

I can't see in those resources how I can display that data on an Azure Portal Dashboard. I can see how those can be used to display on a Power BI dashboard but this is not what I am aiming to do.

Is it possible to use Stream Analytics to say, call a web API, and display the result on the Azure Portal Dashboard? I've had a brief look and it seems like no.

For some more insight: my aim is to populate my Azure Portal Dashboard with data from Team-City, showing build and test run data. I can do this in Power BI, but I want to display this in Azure.

  • Due to a PowerBI limitations, the data sent via the push apis will not land in embedded. PowerBI Embedded does not support the PowerBI REST APIs currently.

Azure Portal is designed to manage Azure resources. Your usage scenario seems to be about some custom process that may not run in Azure.

    Best Regards
