I am receiving the following error when trying to install arcGIS Mapping for SharePoint:

Error: The web.config is invalid on this IIS Web Site: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\[site path]\web.config

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Hi,

Have you recently modified or changed your web.config file? Try to open the file using IE and see if IE render the file correctly.

I figured it out. I didn't do the set up on the SharePoiint environment and just came into a range of error messages and issues (this being just one of them). I realized the error was happening on our fail-over server so I followed the instructions in the link below to restart the Web Application service on the fail-over and it worked!
