Error 0x887a002d when trying to create a device

    Question

  • I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and re-installed Visual Studio 2012 (I'm still waiting for RTM version of the 2013). As I'm trying to recompile and run my app that I previously developed on Windows 8/Sudio 2012, I'm getting error 0x887a002d when calling D3D11CreateDevice.

What is strange is that the same app I downloaded from the store (I submitted it before) runs just fine on the same Windows 8.1 machine.

I'm a bit at a loss as to where to look for the problem.

There is a chance that I messed things up by installing DirectX runtime, but there is no way to uninstall it to check.

    Any advice is appreciated.

  • This appears to be a DXGI missing/mismatched component error.

    DXGI_ERROR_SDK_COMPONENT_MISSING -
"The application requested an operation that depends on an SDK component that is
    missing or mismatched."
