What do you mean with WIP? Is it with Install Manager? To install Microsoft Office Developer Tools Update 2 for Visual Studio 2015, I suggest you try to install from the link below:

  • I followed the uninstall - again!

    • Service Bus 1.0 - not in Programs & Features
    • Windows Fabric - not in Programs & Features
    • No Workflow Manager. Databases on the PC

I never set up a Farm for Workflow Manager

In fact I only want VSOT to update an Outlook add-in

  • There seems to be an issue with Office on this PC

BEFORE any attempt  to install VSOT

    • Last week my licences for Office 2016 and VS 2015 Pro ran out
    • Uninstalled VS2015 and installed Community Edition
    • Uninstalled Office 1016, so that I could install Office 2013 that I do have licence for
    • Could not install 2013 - installer failed
    • Ran MS Fixit Tool https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Uninstall-Office-2016-Office-2013-or-Office-365-from-a-PC-9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB&fromAR=1
    • Rebooted and successfully installed Office 2013

    HOWEVER

    • I noticed that in Programs & Features many installed program were now missing

NOW - whenever I try to install VSOT for VS 2015 - the installation fails

    • And office 2013 programmes will not run
    • Cannot repair or uninstall 2013 from Programs and Features - noting happens when I click on the buttons
    • I have to run the Fixit again.....
    • ... and still cannot install VSOT

It looks to me like registry issues - possibly caused by the Office Fixit

  • Hi Andrew,

    >>still cannot install VSOT

Do you mean you could not install Office developer tools under VS2015 and Office 2013 or could not install VSTO Runtime? What is your system version? To check whether it is related with your special pc, I suggest you try this in another pc.

Have you installed VS 2015 community completely? I suggest you create other project like Console application to check whether your VS is worked.

    Have your Office worked now?

    Best Regards,

    Edward

  • I have Office 2013 and Visual studio community edition fully installed and I am using them daily

I cannot install VSOT for VS 2015

It is not a "special" PC.

It is x64. I can install VSOT on a laptop (which is x86)

  • Hi Andrew,

Could you share us what do you want to install, Office developer tools or VSTO runtime? If you install VSTO runtime, you will need to install it according your system version. If your system is x86, you will need to install VSTO runtime x86 version.

    Best Regards,

    Edward

Are you an automated reply system?? Your posts are unhelpful and often irrelevant

  • Hi Andrew,

Yes, I know your title is related with installing Office Developer Tools Update 2, but based on your later reply, you said you cannot install VSOT. So your VSOT is Office Developer Tools? I thought you mean VSTO.

I confirm with my partner who is more familiar with Web Platform Installer, I suggest you post your issue in the forum below, they are more familiar with it.

    Thanks for your understanding.
