bing map tile system for chinese RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi guys

As we known, bing map worked perfectly for all the Asian countries.

But once i tried to visit tile system direct , it can not show asian characters, neither Chinese, nor Japanese, nor Korean.

    ex: http://ecn.t5.tiles.virtualearth.net/tiles/r132.png?g=2000&mkt=zh-CN

this ex just make a English map, but if we displace zh-CN by fr-FR ,    it works perfectly like"Chine".

    Anyone got some ideas?

  • Unless your company has been given permission, directly accessing the Chinese map is not allowed. They can only be viewed in the bing maps controls.

  • You would need to license the maps and also explain when licensing why you need direct access to the tiles. There are a lot of regulations around Chinese mapping data and we have to ensure that customers stay inline with them so that Microsoft and you won't get in trouble with the Chinese government. You can contact the licensing team at mapemea@microsoft.com
