Unable to create the VM from VHD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Gurus,

    I have performed the below steps to upload the VHD and try to create the VM but it gives me below error.

    I have done this : 1) Create VM (Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 EE 64 Bit) on HyperV. 2) Convert VHDx to VHD. 3) Create new VM on Hyperv and link the VHD with new VM. 4) Start new VM with vhd file and login. 5) Run SYSPREP (with shutdown option) 6) Upload the VHD on Azure Storage. 7) Create a successful image of VHD. 8) Then create a VM from Image it gives us below error.

    {"code":"DeploymentFailed","message":"At least one resource deployment operation failed. Please list deployment operations for details. Please see https://aka.ms/arm-debug for usage details.","details":[{"code":"Conflict","message":"{\r\n \"status\": \"Failed\",\r\n \"error\": {\r\n \"code\": \"ResourceDeploymentFailure\",\r\n \"message\": \"The resource operation completed with terminal provisioning state 'Failed'.\",\r\n \"details\": [\r\n {\r\n \"code\": \"OSProvisioningTimedOut\",\r\n \"message\": \"OS Provisioning for VM 'BCP-R1-DB009' did not finish in the allotted time. The VM may still finish provisioning successfully. Please check provisioning state later. Also, make sure the image has been properly prepared (generalized).\\r\\n * Instructions for Windows: https://azure.microsoft.com/documentation/articles/virtual-machines-windows-upload-image/ \\r\\n * Instructions for Linux: https://azure.microsoft.com/documentation/articles/virtual-machines-linux-capture-image/ \"\r\n }\r\n ]\r\n }\r\n}"}]}

    Your kind support is required.

    Thanks

    Please refer the link

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/create-vm-specialized#option-2-upload-a-specialized-vhd

    It says: Do not generalize the VM by using Sysprep

  • Yes i did follow all the necessary information which is mentioned in the link.

    I have uploaded the VHDs multiple times.
