Remote Desktop Mobile improperly passes Alpha barcodes to server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Scanning a Code 128, Code 39 or Code 93 barcode from an Intermec CK3, Psion WorkAbout Pro G2, or DataLogic Pegaso device with windows Mobile 6 and remote desktop mobile results in the values for the barcode being incorrect. A barcode with the value of PUTRK shows up as UTRKp in the server application. To reproduce this issue, create a barcode with the value of "PUTRK" using one of the symbologies listed above. Connect the handheld to a server using Remote Desktop Mobile and open notepad.exe. Scan the barcode with the handheld and the result will UTRKp instead of PUTRK. This same test executed using Windows Mobile 5 handhelds and the older version of "Terminal Services Client" works properly.

Any suggestions on a fix for this issue?

  • I contacted Intermec about this issue with their handheld.  They confirmed the issue and provided an OS update to correct the problem.
