  • I have been trying to get audio out of my desktop ever since I installed Developers Preview. Under windows 7 I installed the drivers and the software that is made for my motherboard which is Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2H, the software (Realtek HD audio manager) is telling me there is no audio device plugged in the system. to activate GUI, please plug an audio device in the system.

  • friskk,

Make sure that you have the latest Windows 7 drivers for you device.

Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode.

You can do this by following the below instructions:

    ·         Enter the Start screen

    ·         Move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen to expand the Charms section

    ·         Select Search

    ·         Type Compatibility

    ·         Click Settings in the right column

    ·         Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows

    ·         Then follow the prompts and direct the troubleshooter to the installer for your computer's driver.

Please post back with your results.

    Thanks,

  • The device in question is a Realtek HD Audio. Windows 7 drivers (INF and even the setup program under compatibility mode) do not work on Windows 8.

Please liase with Realtek to get an updated version of the driver.
