Problems with Games

    General discussion

  • Hello,

There is a common problem with some games. When you double-click on them, nothing happens. Not a single process is opened.

It has happened to me with Just Case 2 and From Dust. I've also read about somebody with the same problem with Flight Simulator X.

On the other hand, I've tested The Elder Scrolls - Oblivion, and Angry Birds Rio, and these work perfectly.

Has this happened to you? In which games?

I'm using the Windows 8 Developer Preview x64

    My PC Config:

    AMD Athlon II x4 620

    AMD Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X

    MSI 770-C45

    Thanks!

  • Is it a clean installation or are you running Win8 on a virtual machine?

  • there are more games with issues. Keep in mind this is a developer preview. Not everything is bound to work.

  • Yeah, that is obvious, but what i was meant to know is if somebody knows anything else than that...

BTW, Can we downgrade to Win 7 without losing stuff? My developing work is over, thankfully =P

    Thanks!.

  • Thats appening to me sometimes with Left 4 Dead 2 but after a system reboot its working

Are you sure not even a suspended process is opened? Are you using original disk game or some download from the web ?

  • No you can't downgrade to Windows7 without losing stuff.
The only way to get Windows7 back is by installing it off the Original installation media that you got it on.

Also, have you tried running the games in compatibility mode?

  • One tip for applications that does not work when you click or tap on its icon, if it is a metro-style application your resolution should be at least 1280x768
