Printer Management and print job control RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We would do printer management and print queue control.

Already know Cscript method to call VBscript.

Does another way to do printer management by C#?

Can Windows API do this job?

    Thanks, Thomas

  • What is the intention? Which base do you have (operating systems, local or network printers, one or multiple printers ...)?

VBScript is rather outdated and more and more replaced by PowerShell. There is also the Print Management Console on servers, which gives a good interface to handle network printers on a Print server.

  • Already build up a application that coding by C#.

The application is printer administrator in office. Desktop connect all of network printer and local print and the application installed.

Every members also have their own PID/UID. The application will print out when the member keyin own PID/UID in the Desktop.

Therefore, the application must have privilege to control print queue and printers.
