What SharePoint 2010 Licensing is necessary? RRS feed

  • I am trying to develop a External system, using for 60 concurrent users. I hope to attain the follow setup

    2X web servers (web front-end and application on same server )

    2X firewall (between web server and DB server)

    2X DB servers (2X MSSQL 2012 are clustering)

    We are looking the Enterpirse version. My question is what kindly of SharePoint license are necessary?

  • You will need two SharePoint licenses, one for each server with SharePoint installed on it.

    You will also need user 'Client Access Licenses' or CALs for each user who connects to SharePoint.

    Both the Server Licenses and the CALs can be of 'Standard' or 'Enterprise' version, Standard and Enterprise server licenses both cost the same but the Enterprise user CALs are more than standard user CALs.

    As always, consult your friendly local Microsoft license retailer, they are normally more than happy to lend a hand understanding the exact rules.
