Permission denied for access to IIS object RRS feed

    Hi all,

    I have an application which interacts with IIS and creates virtual directories through the use of GetObject. However, the application has recently started to report "permission denied" when trying to do this. The error specifically is:

    Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a0046'

    Permission denied

    The line which generates the error is:

    var oWebSite = GetObject("IIS://localhost/W3svc/3/Root");

    We had this working before with the same server and setup so I'm at pains to see what has changed and what the issue is exactly. Would appreciate any help with it. It's written in JScript in classic ASP.

    Thanks in advance,

    Are you logged on to the web server as a user with Admin privileges?

    Yeah we have full admin privileges on the server, it's dedicated to hosting a couple of sites for our organisation. The script itself would be running under the Internet Guest account.

    Right, and that account would not have permission to do this.  Remove anonymous access from this script/folder so you must logon to IIS as an admin to run it.
