word save as text converts double quote to hex 93 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have home grown software that has been running for years on word 2007. When I switched to word 2010, it stopped working.  I save a document as text using a macro, and the double quote characters that used to appear as hex 22 now appear as hex 93. The code to save the document is "ActiveDocument.SaveAs FileName:=newName, FileFormat:=wdFormatText"

I suspect other characters are converted as well, I just haven't bumped into them yet.

The SaveAs method is hidden in the Word 2010 object model; instead there is a new method called SaveAs2. If you try that one, and explicitly set the encoding that you want, then does it work properly?
