Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) feature available in 180 day Trial Version of SQL Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft's website says that 180 day trial version is a fully functional version of SQL Server 2008 and includes all the features of Enterprise edition. Though, when I try to create a Database Encryption Key (DEK), it says that this feature is not available for this edition of SQL Server instance.

Can someone shed more light on this? In which edition can I use TDE? (It can be well assumed that I'm in no position to buy the fully functional Enterprise Edition)

  • TDE is only allowed in the enterprise edition, not on the standard edition
