SQL 2008 is it possible to deny permissions to certain database role(s) ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello is User_A is within the DB system db_owner role and User_B is within a user created role with certain tables allowed to SELECT on.

Is it possible to restrict access to certain tables within in both db_owner role and user created role?

    Thanks in advance.

We cannot deny the permission for the db_owner role, but we can deny access to the user in this role, please refer to this blog: https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2903/blocking-sql-server-dbdatareader-dbdatawriter-and-dbowner-permissions/

For a normal database role, we can deny the permission on the role.
