Hi,

I want to recognize hand-written "singularity functions" which have the following format:

(+|-) number < X (+|-) number > (+|-) integer

where (+|-) indicate that it's either a '+' or a '-' (without the parenthesis). '<' and '>' are angled brackets. The "number"s can be integers or real numbers.

What is the best way of recognizing the formula? Many times, it fails to recognize '<' and recognizes it as a part of the number (7) or something else. The 'X' fails to be recognized many times, too.

Thank you
